(1) Its structure is simpler than that of a gate valve, and it is more convenient to manufacture and maintain.
(2) The sealing surface is not prone to wear or scratches, and it has good sealing performance. When opening and
closing, there is no relative sliding between the valve disc and the sealing surface of the valve body, so the wear and
scratches are not severe. It has good sealing performance and a long service life.
(3) When opening and closing, the travel of the valve disc is small, so the height of the stop valve is smaller than that of
the gate valve, but its structural length is longer than that of the gate valve.
(4) The opening and closing torque is large, it is difficult to open and close, and the opening and closing time is long.
(5) The fluid resistance is large. Due to the tortuous medium passage inside the valve body, the fluid resistance is high
and the power consumption is large.
(6) When the nominal pressure PN of the medium flow direction is ≤16MPa, the co-current flow is generally adopted, with the
medium flowing upward from the bottom of the valve disc. When the nominal pressure PN is ≥20MPa, counter-flow is generally
adopted, with the medium flowing down from the top of the valve disc. To increase the performance of the sealing parts.
When in use, the medium of the stop valve can only flow in one direction and the flow direction cannot be changed.
(7) When fully open, the valve disc is often eroded.
